Travel is a great way people learn about the world and themselves.

There are many opportunities when you travel to different countries. Using some of these tips will help you get the most out of your travel adventures, giving you inspiration for more journeys in the days ahead.
Don’t use the public computers in your hotel or anywhere else they offer free internet while you are on vacation. Unscrupulous individuals may have installed keyloggers or other malware on these public computers to steal your information.
Traveling away from home can often result in you carrying along too many belongings. Make a list of all the things you might need, then prioritize to establish what your essentials are. List the ones that you use most during the day and can’t be without. Only take along the necessities and what’s important.
Find out about what travelers coverage and perks that your credit card company, travel clubs and other affiliations can offer.

You may be covered if a flight is canceled. Research the web for types of insurance coverage to be safe.
Travel is a great teaching tool, especially for children and young adults. As long as you’re cautious, the developing world can be a good place to visit, and it can show your kids how life outside of your home country is. Viewing the lives of others is an amazing way to build an understanding and tolerance of different cultures.
You can join forums and websites that are focused on travel. Getting connected with fellow travelers is a great way to get ready for your trips. Not only might this lead to some wonderful tidbit of information about your destination that you did not know, but you might also make some friends.
Don’t travel by car at rush hour. If it’s not possible to avoid rush hour, stop for a restaurant break during rush hour. This is a good time to eat or relax.

Always look at the expiration dates that are printed on your passports. A lot of countries have certain rules concerning passports. Many will not let you enter their country if your passport expires in a certain window of time. Typically this date is around 6 months, but some countries demand up to a year.
Try to find parking well ahead of time. Parking can be more expensive when booked the day of the flight.
If you live near the airport, a taxi can be much cheaper than airport parking.
When you are on a cruise, you should interact with others while you are at dinner. Many times you will get put at a large table with passengers you have never met before. Try to enjoy yourself and talk to the people you meet. You’re going to be around them each day and you might even find out more about the ship.
Travel is a means of escape; you can get away from your boring routine and experience new things. These tips will help anyone have a great travel experience.

Thank you for your excellent travel tips Christine. I certainly agree about travel being a great teaching tool for kids. Until their last two years at school we’d take the kids out of school to take them traveling, sometimes overseas. We could afford to do more outside the pricier peak season times, they easily caught up with schoolwork and the experiences really benefited them.

Great tips Christine! I learned the hard way to make sure everything is packed and I now use a checklist when packing. A few years ago my family went on a cruise to the Bahamas and I forgot to pack pants/shorts for myself. Needless to say, I purchased all of the sarongs on the ship and lived comfortably the whole trip. It was a pricy lesson, but one that is burnt in my brain. LOL

Thank you Kelli! we all learn the hard way. It is a reminder to double check things again and again. It might seem pointless alway be safe than sorry.

That reminds me of a time when we were having house renovations done. I’d packed away virtually everything in the bedrooms as walls were coming down, some added and new wardrobes fitted. We went away for a week until we had somewhere to sleep again. It was mid winter and I left behind all our jumpers. I found them when I came home, among all the packed away things.

Hi
if your travelling to a new place and you get easily lost.. Here is a suggestion.. Take a digital camera with you.. Not an expensive one and take a picture of your journey.. your starting point and take a picture of every corner..every building.. then when you need to make your way back just work backwards?
Men don’t like asking other people for directions… I don’t know why.. maybe it is on DNA.

I love this idea. A photo breadcrumb trail. Last time we went to Europe we had an iPhone and used Google Maps but we could only get internet access in certain countries.
